Fifteen books every little girl should read…

As you know, I LOVE  BOOKS! I can spend hours reading them. Though my favorite books keep changing as I grow.  Here is a list of my favoritest (I don’t think there is a word like that!!! but you get the idea) books. Most of these are quite ‘girly’ and may or may not appeal to the boys. But I will be doing a list of books for boys too, pretty soon…

A little princess- About a rich motherless girl who is sent to boarding school by her father who she adores. A must read for all girls. Read more about A little Princessa little princess

Anne of green gables – A heart warming story about an orphan girl who is adopted by a maid and bachelor who live in Avonlea. I like this book. Read more about Anne of green Gables

Malory Towers – A boarding school story series you would thoroughly enjoy regardless of whether you are in a boarding school or not.  Here is more about Enid Blyton’s Malory Tower series

Miley Cyrus – Miles To Go – a lovely book by Miley Cyrus where she tells not about her Hannah Montana life, but about her simple life, besides being Hannah. An amazing book. Here is more about Miles to Go

The life story of Tracy beaker – It is about a girl named Tracy who lives in a children’s home and is writing her life story. A good book written in a fun way.Read more about the life of Tracy Beaker

A bear for Felicia- A book about  a girl called Felicia who loves her bear more than anything. I stumbled upon this book at a literature festival. I loved the book and also loved the author Jerry Pinto, who I had a chance to meet at the same fair. Check it out

The railway children – About three children who come to live in a house close to the railways from their house in London as their father is jailed. This book has been published by many publishers. I like the abridged version by Oxford. It is simpler to read. Click here to read more about the Railway Children

Railway children
Rainbow magic series -About two girls who are on an adventure helping fairies to find their magical objects which are stolen and help everything go smoothly. A fairytale mixed with adventure, a perfect combination for everyone. This is a huge series with many books to choose from. I haven’t read all yet but here is one of my favorite from the ones I have.

Steal away- An orphan is sent to live on her uncle’s farm in the south. She doesn’t want a slave but gets one. Then she frees her and they make a journey on foot from Virginia to Vermont. I got this book in a scholastic book fair. Here is a detailed review

Maya – About a girl who draws and rides horses. She is not close to her father and doesn’t have a mother. But riding changes her life. Though the book is nice in itself, I like it a little extra because it shares my name 🙂  This book by Dheera Kitchlu, is difficult to find on the net. My mom got it for me from a book fair. It is published by Fingerprints , Mumbai.
Charlie and the chocolate factory- About a boy called Charlie who is poor. But something changes his life. He visits the Wonka factory and is chosen to own it! An amazing book by Roald Dahl.  Unlike Maya, this book is very very easily available. It has been made into a movie too! If you don’t wish to read it, you can watch the movie. the story is incredible 🙂

Thea Stilton series- In each of Thea Stilton’s series of books a mouse teacher – ‘Thea’ and her five favourite mouselings go on an adventure. The adventures are thrilling but what I like more is the play with words like a handkerchief is called the ‘pawkerchief’, the cellphone becomes ‘the mousephone’ and give me a hand becomes ‘give a paw’. Also try Geronimo Stilton , the series about her mouse brother. Here is a link to one of the books I have read from this series.

Wishawozzariter – About a girl called Wisha who wants to write but doesn’t have an idea. Then she enters a world full of books and ideas. Very interesting book. The title of the book itself is a clever play of words. I met the author of this book Payal kapadia too at a book fair. She was fun! Read more about Wishawozzawriter
